Handcrafted Butcher Boards

Made by hand. Built to work. Designed to last.

Our butcher boards are handcrafted one at a time using carefully selected hardwoods. Each board is cut, assembled, sanded, and finished by hand, allowing the natural grain, color, and character of the wood to become part of the final design.

Choose Your Board

Each available board has its own combination of woods, grain pattern, construction, and details. The board pictured is the board you receive, so you can choose the exact piece that belongs in your kitchen.

Made for More Than Looking Pretty

These aren't decorative boards that are too precious to use.

They're made for chopping, slicing, prepping, serving, and becoming part of your everyday kitchen.

Depending on the individual board, features may include:

  • Edge-grain or end-grain construction

  • Hard maple, cherry, and/or black walnut

  • Juice grooves

  • Finger grooves for easier lifting

  • Naturally unique grain and coloration

  • Food-safe finish

  • Hand-finished edges

  • Effervesce Woodshop branding

Edge Grain vs. End Grain

Edge Grain
The long fibers of the wood run across the cutting surface, creating beautiful linear grain patterns. Edge-grain boards are strong, stable, and well suited for everyday prep.

End Grain
The ends of the wood fibers form the cutting surface. Your knife passes between the fibers rather than primarily across them, helping the surface withstand repeated chopping while being gentler on knife edges.

Naturally One of a Kind

Wood is a natural material, and we don't try to hide that.

Variations in grain, knots, mineral streaks, color, and pattern are part of what makes each board unique. These natural characteristics are not defects—they're part of the story of the wood and the reason your board won't look exactly like anyone else's.

Care Instructions

Hand wash only.
Wash with mild soap and warm water. Do not soak.

Dry promptly.
Towel dry after washing and allow the board to finish air drying.

Do not put in the dishwasher.

Recondition as needed.
Apply a food-safe mineral oil or appropriate butcher-block conditioner when the wood begins to look or feel dry.

Avoid prolonged heat and direct sunlight.
Natural wood can react to extreme changes in heat and moisture.

With proper care, your butcher board is made to be part of your kitchen for years to come.
