Chebe Shampoo Bar | Rosemary & Cocoa Butter | Length Retention

Cocoa butter, coconut milk, and chebe — a rich, nourishing cleanse for textured, curly, dry, and all hair types.

A shampoo bar built different.

Most shampoo bars are stripped-down cleansers — functional but forgettable. This one is built around cocoa butter, coconut milk, and a full chebe botanical infusion, delivering a cleanse that leaves hair genuinely nourished rather than just clean.

At 8oz, this is one of the largest shampoo bars on the market — designed to be your whole household's hair care bar, chopped into portions for multiple uses and storage locations, and lasting up to four months with proper care. One bar. Many uses. Remarkable value.

The Chebe Story

For generations, the Sara Kaba women of Chad have been known throughout Africa for extraordinarily long, healthy hair. Their secret — chebe powder — is a traditional botanical blend made from Shébé seeds of the croton zambesicus plant, combined with cherry seeds, resin tree sap, clove, lavender croton, and stone scent.

Chebe works by coating each hair strand and sealing moisture deep inside, dramatically reducing the breakage that prevents hair from reaching its full potential length. We've infused it directly into the coconut oil base of this bar so every wash delivers the chebe benefit from the very first lather.

What Makes This Bar Exceptional

Cocoa Butter — the ingredient behind the "Cocoa Chebe" name. Rich in oleic acid, stearic acid, and natural antioxidants, cocoa butter is one of the most deeply conditioning ingredients available in solid bar form. It gives this bar its creamy, skin-loving lather and leaves hair feeling soft and nourished rather than stripped after washing — a rarity in any shampoo, let alone a bar.

Coconut Milk — an uncommon and genuinely luxurious addition to a shampoo bar. Coconut milk is rich in fatty acids and proteins that condition the hair shaft during cleansing, contributing to the bar's unusually creamy lather and the softness hair feels after rinsing.

Chebe-Infused Coconut Oil — the chebe botanical complex — lavender croton, resin, stone scent, and clove — infused directly into coconut oil for maximum strand contact during every wash.

Shea Butter — adds moisture and slip to the lather, softening the cleansing action and contributing to the bar's conditioning finish.

Avocado Oil — rich in vitamins A, D, E, and B5. Penetrates deeply into the hair shaft for nourishment that lasts beyond the rinse.

Castor Oil — thick and rich in ricinoleic acid. Long used in folk hair traditions for its thickening and strengthening qualities — adds body and resilience to the lather and the hair.

Jojoba Oil — a liquid wax that closely mimics the scalp's natural sebum. Lightweight and balancing — helps prevent the over-stripping that leaves hair feeling squeaky and dry after washing.

Kaolin Clay — a fine mineral clay that gently lifts buildup and impurities from the scalp and strand without harsh detergents. Contributes to the bar's smooth, gliding lather.

Aloe Vera Powder — concentrated aloe, widely recognized for its cooling and skin-conditioning properties. Adds a soothing quality to the scalp experience during wash.

Rosemary, Tea Tree, Peppermint & Eucalyptus Essential Oils — the same invigorating scalp activation blend from the Chebe Hair & Scalp Oil, now built into the cleansing step. Rosemary for its storied folk tradition in scalp care. Tea tree for its cleansing character. Peppermint and eucalyptus for the tingling, refreshing sensation that makes wash day feel genuinely therapeutic.

Beeswax — a small amount used as a natural binder and conditioning agent in the bar. Note: contains beeswax — not vegan.

Glycerin — a humectant that draws moisture to the hair during rinsing, leaving strands hydrated rather than parched after cleansing.

How To Use

Touch the bar directly to wet hair and gently rub all over the scalp and lengths. It will work up a rich, bubbly, creamy lather. Massage into the scalp with fingertips, then work through the lengths. Rinse thoroughly. Follow with the Whipped Chebe Butter as a leave-in or the Chebe Hair & Scalp Oil for a complete ritual.

For best results: use on thoroughly wet hair. The wetter the hair, the better the lather.

The 8oz Advantage — How To Chop and Store

At 8oz this bar is designed to be divided. Here's how to get the most out of it:

Use a sharp knife or bench scraper to cut the bar into portions — a typical wash uses roughly a 1oz section. Store unused portions in a cool, dry place wrapped in wax paper or in a small tin. Keep your active portion on a soap saver between uses to allow full drainage and airflow — this dramatically extends the life of each section and prevents the bar from sitting in water and dissolving prematurely.

With proper care and a soap saver, this bar lasts up to four months of regular use — making it one of the most economical shampoo options in the natural hair care space.

Pair with our Cedar Wood Soap Saver to maximize every ounce.

Care Tip

Store on a soap saver between uses. Keep away from standing water. A well-drained bar lasts significantly longer than one left sitting in a wet dish.

FAQ

What does "jumbo bar" mean in practice? At 8oz this is roughly two to three times the size of a standard shampoo bar. It's designed to be cut into portions for multiple household members, multiple bathroom locations, or simply to last a very long time for a single user. With a soap saver and proper drainage, expect up to four months of regular use.

How do I cut it without it crumbling? Use a sharp chef's knife or bench scraper with firm, even pressure. Chebe bars cut cleanly when the bar is at room temperature. Avoid sawing — one clean press is better. If the bar is very firm, let it sit in a slightly warm room for 20 minutes before cutting.

Is this only for textured or curly hair? Not at all. The chebe infusion benefits any hair type prone to breakage, dryness, or thinning. Fine and straight hair users get excellent results — particularly those who want a cleansing bar that doesn't strip moisture. The cocoa butter and coconut milk base makes this one of the most conditioning shampoo bars available for all hair types.

Does lye make it harsh? No. Lye (sodium hydroxide) is used in the saponification process that turns oils into soap. In a properly cured bar no free lye remains — what's left is the saponified oils, glycerin, and all the conditioning botanicals. The finished bar is gentle, conditioning, and completely safe for regular use.

Is it vegan? This formula contains beeswax and is not vegan. Our Chebe Hair & Scalp Oil is fully vegan if you prefer a vegan chebe option.

How does this compare to a liquid shampoo? Most liquid shampoos are 70–80% water with synthetic detergents and preservatives making up the bulk of the formula. This bar is concentrated botanical ingredients — no water, no synthetic sulfates, no parabens. It delivers more active ingredients per wash and lasts significantly longer per dollar spent.
